I proudly joined this great union on September 9, 1972 at age 19 as a member of Local 804 working for UPS. During my 26+ years I started out loading trucks, I was a package car driver in Queens and a Tractor Trailer driver in the tri state area. I was also an elected Shop Steward for a good amount of those years.
In September 1993 I was appointed by the International President as a Trustee. My job was to go into Local unions that were placed in trusteeship, working to clean up corruption, break the strangle hold that organized crime had on many of the local unions rebuild the Locals treasury and turn the Locals back over to the membership after a democratic election. I served in approximately 12 different locals and served as a Trustee to 20 different Benefit funds.
In March of 1999 I came to work at Local 810 as a Business Agent and was approved by the membership as a Trustee to our Welfare and Pension Funds. I became Secretary-Treasurer in October, 2013, a position I hold with great privilege.
In my 43 years working in the union movement I have negotiated hundreds of contracts, resolved grievances, participated in arbitrations, attended both union and benefit educational seminars and oversaw successful organizing campaigns.
